Creating Again

In the last few months it has been been difficult to focus, let alone create. Processing all that is going on in this world has left me mentally exhausted at times, with nothing left to give to those things that bring me so much joy. So, I took time to tend to those thoughts running through my head. I rested. I reflected. I’ve spent much needed time with God that gave me clarity and the permission I needed to reach back to those things that make my soul happy. Let’s just say, I’m happy to be back in the groove of creating, planning, and dreaming again. My heart is happy and I’m reminded that nothing in this world feels quite like walking in purpose….

To my fellow creatives, I’m here to encourage you to keep going. Yes, be mindful of your mental health. Yes, show up for the causes you are passionate about. Yes, give yourself space for your mind and body to rest, but don’t stay away too long. With so much darkness in this world, your light is needed. Your creativity and purpose and perspective is needed. So….

Create if it brings you joy.

Create, unapologetically, even if it confuses other people.

Create when it feels like life wants to consume you whole.

Create if it keeps you sane and gives you a reason to keep going.

Create like your purpose depends on it.

Create the best way you know how, even if you never share it with the world.

And while we’re on the subject of creating….Keep creating in seasons when it feels like you are not seen, heard, or understood.

Ya’ll, the desire or strength to create may ebb and flow for one reason or another, but what you’ve been called to do will remain the same. Cheers to crawling before we walk again. Cheers to creating on purpose. Cheers to getting back to “normal,” whatever that may look like for you.
