A Beautiful Beginning

Like many people I can’t believe that January 2021 is coming to an end already!

I started my year off doing a 21 day fast with my church and let me tell you, it has set the tone for this year. I decided to fast from eating sweets, which is huge for me! If I could live off of cake and cookies and candy that would be my diet of choice. Clearly that’s no way to live! It wasn’t easy and honestly I didn’t know if I could do it but with each day any cravings for something sweet were replaced with really just wanting the day to go by so that I spend quality time with God. I am reminded that anything of this world is temporary but what God gives just hits differently….

As we make our way into Chapter 2 of 2021, I feel fortunate to be alive and well. There are certain areas of my life, like forgiving family members, that I’m working through. As a creative person I am always coming up with ideas and that can often times leave me feeling a bit lost. I’m asking God to show me (again) where He wants me to put my time and attention. In the meantime, I’m finalizing my next book and planning the launch, which I’m excited about. There are also other things I’m praying over like my career, discernment is it relates to dating, and finding fulfillment simply in doing the things that bring me joy.

Friends, there is still so much going on in this world that is heavy and distracting but my hope for us all is that we take care of ourselves. I hope the lessons we learned last year don’t become moot. I hope we don’t just post about Him (God that is) but that in every space we occupy we would serve as a light in a world that so desperately needs more of it.
