Starting Over Again
I remember when I first launched this website. After trying my hand at blogging over the years I felt like this was a fresh start for me creatively. I was in a good place overall in life and I was ready to push myself like never before. Well, things haven't exactly gone as planned.
Even as I type this, my head is pounding and has been for the last three days. I find myself in a rough spot with some of the people in my life and it's a full time job to maintain joy, patience, and contentment when it comes to my day job. I know I haven't been consistent and disciplined as I should be when it comes to writing and blogging and so I feel a bit disappointed in myself. I made a commitment to myself and I haven't done a good job of showing up for my goals and my dreams.
I can assure you this isn't a pity party so if you're still reading, I appreciate you! The thing is, life will always have the potential to throw us curveballs but we can't give up. Frankly, life is going to get hard and sometimes we might find ourselves feeling stuck, unmotivated, and doubtful. What I know is that who we are and how we respond when life happens has everything to do with our mindset. Our thoughts are crucial to turning corners and getting back to our happy place. With that in mind, I'm reminded that....
When we doubt how far we can go we have to remember how far we've come.
Seasons of feeling lost and unmotivated are just part of our journey.
Resilience is the key to rising above.
It's okay to restrategise and find our motivation again.
Giving up is easy and I truly believe that you (we) were created to do tough stuff.
The most successful people we admire show up for themselves even when they don't feel like it. They somehow find their way back to why they started in the first place at their lowest moments. They pick themselves up and work through the frustrations, doubt, and confusion.
If you're wondering if you should just throw in the towel, please don't. If you're beating yourself up because you haven't done all the things you set out to do this year, please stop. If you're in a creative funk, I'm here to tell you that you're still brilliant and talented AND still creative in your own right.
Keep going my friend, you got this! Like the saying goes, "fall down 7 times, stand up 8!"
