In the Meantime

Life kind of feels like a movie this year, right? The drama. The sadness. The struggle. The grief. The sad news. Stay with me, I promise you this gets more uplifting….

We may not all be impacted in the same way but we’ve all had to make some adjustments due to the state of the world. Whether it be to a struggling economy, racial injustice, or just the compounding realities of life, we’ve all felt something. Frankly, it doesn’t really matter who we are, what we do for a living, or what we own, we’re all in this together!

Personally, I’ve had my moments of anxiety about the unknown merely out of concern for family and friends but I understand that nothing positive comes from worry. Logically it makes sense to panic during these times but I’m reminded that there is nothing logical about Jesus Christ. So, I encourage you just like I am encouraging myself to allow God’s word to speak louder than the evening news, the constant reposts on social media, and the conspiracy theories. I want to encourage you as I encourage myself, to lean in more. In a time where greed, unnecessary confusion, and lack of compassion are alive and well, so is God. A year from now just seems so far away when I think about it, but in the meantime, while we’re in the thick of it, we must trust God…

In the meantime, let’s remain prayerful.

In the meantime, let’s hold on to our praise.

In the meantime, let’s ask God for wisdom.

In the meantime, let’s hold on to God’s faithfulness.

In the meantime, let’s practice gratitude.

In the meantime, let’s remain hopeful that better days are ahead.

But How?

By holding on to God’s word.

Isaiah 40:31 But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will sour on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Romans 15:3 May the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

John 16:33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.

In a time when so many people are hurting, grieving, and struggling, I am so grateful for the word of God. I’m thankful for all of its beautiful reminders that God is our only source of hope and peace. While our circumstances may change, God always remains the same. That is good news!

So, to the person reading this who feels fearful of what’s to come, don’t be afraid (John 14:17). To the person who feels defeated, your best day hasn’t come yet (Hebrews 11:1). To the person who feels forgotten, know that God will never leave you (Deuteronomy 31:8). To the person who feels pushed to the limit in all aspects of life, know that God has not left you, and He never will (Deuteronomy 31:6).

May we take life one day at a time. May we start each day believing that God is bigger than we feel. May we put our trust in God and not man. May we find hope in God’s daily. May there be more wisdom and less worry. May we believe in God in the most inconvenient times because we hold on to who God is today and everyday.
