Wait For It
There’s this space between praying for something and receiving an answer from God. Within that space is the potential for doubt and impatience. There’s the potential to rationalize instead of trusting God to do what only He can do. Believing that God’s timing is perfect is not always easy. Waiting can become heavy, but God…
A couple of years ago I was working in Washington, D.C. I was in a very rough spot with my career and I felt like my only option was to quit my job, pack up my things, and move back home. Never had I felt more helpless living in another state away from my family in a far from ideal job situation. After months of tears, frustration, and literally giving up, God put the right people and the right opportunity in my path. It’s funny how God works because that opportunity sent me to Austin, Texas and that is where I met my She Inspires family. Even though I’m back in Houston now, these women are a huge part of my life and I wonder would I have ever met them if God didn’t sent me their way. This year I will make thirteen years on my job and believe me, this is just one example of God looking out for me in ways only He can.
I’d love to tell you that I haven’t kicked and screamed a bit waiting for God to do something in my life since then. If I told you I’ve waited on God without some anxiety, I’d be lying. What I do know is that there is purpose in waiting. It’s in those spaces where we are desperate that God is stretching us in the most powerful way, even if we don’t realize it at the time. In those moments where you wonder if God is listening, He is. In those moments where you feel forgotten, know that God sees you and your heart. Keep praying. Keep feeding your faith. Whatever you are praying for, believe it with your faith before you see it with your eyes and when the wait is over, the outcome will have God written all over it.
"Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." Psalm 27:14
