Rest In His Presence
It's so funny as kids we want to grow up so fast…. Then adulthood hits us with so many responsibilities and challenges that we want to rewind time and just enjoy the simple life for just a little bit longer. Life is hard sometimes but there is something about totally surrendering our problems to God.
I've always struggled with the inability to relax when things get a big crazy. I internalize things. Frankly, I let things stress me out. Over the years I think I've become a little better but it's still something I have to work on. One thing is for certain is that we can get so caught up in life that we can literally drive ourselves crazy and get distracted so much that we forget to rest in God's presence. From finances, to broken relationships, to changing friendships, there is always something that has the potential to keep us up at night, but it doesn't have to be that way. We can't let life pass us by and not learn to focus on the beauty of things, rather than all the burdens.
Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. (Psalms 62:5)
So what does resting in God look like? I'm not sure if it's the same for everyone. We all come with our own set of baggage, sin, and struggles, but I will say that resting in God means having peace in our times of trouble. Resting in God means maintaining faith even when we want to give up. Resting in God means that we understand that all things work together for his glory. Resting in God means finishing what we start, no matter how long it takes us to get there. Resting in God means finding joy when we are catching hell from every direction. Let's all be intentional in giving our problems to God and resting in God's protection this week and for the rest of our lives.
