Delayed, Not Denied

Imagine praying and believing that your next big break is coming, only to receive a big fat NO.

This was my reality on last week. I had been waiting with expectancy for that call that would really be the change I need career wise but it didn’t happen. I literally felt heartbroken and all my faith seemed to go out the window. I can tell you that right now I desperately desire to move on and do something new but here it is I’m in a place that is all too familiar. I feel trapped, almost like I’m in cruise control.

Over the last few days I’ve been praying for peace and contentment, but to be very honest, I’ve had more bad days than good. I realize though that I have a choice to make. I can either kick and scream during this season of waiting, or I can sit back and try to understand what lessons there are to learn right where I am. I’m going to take things one day at a time. I’m going to focus on all the great things going on in my life, like becoming an author. I’m going to make sure I don’t forget all the times God delivered me from similar situations. The truth is, I know full well that God knows what’s best for me and so I have to believe that He does indeed have a plan.

There is something to be said about God having a perfect track record. God is perfect. All knowing. Without fault. I can think of many instances in my life where I literally cried to God asking why I was having to deal with certain things and somehow God always revealed to me that without faith and trust in Him, I cannot truly serve Him. So, as I prepare for my week, I understand my assignment. It is to be joyful, patient, and faithful.

Maybe you’ve been praying for something and it just seems like you can’t catch a break. Maybe you feel unappreciated and undervalued when you show up to work each day. Know that you aren’t alone. Learning to trust in God’s timing and God’s plan for our lives is not always an easy job but it is one worth pursuing with all of our might. Change will come. Growth with come. In the meantime, let’s focus on being content and not missing the opportunity to strengthen our relationship with God. Let’s be faithful in praying and intentional in wearing a smile each day.
